[Art Library Vol.18] Hokusai X Kamakurabori
On the bookshelves of the lobby lounge, 25th floor, artwork are being displayed and on sale. These artwork are selected seasonally, based on the concept “A study where one can feel Japan”.
Hokusai Katsushika, the master of ukiyo-e, is one of Japan’s most famous artists. Known for his innovative compositions, Hokusai expressed himself through the many diverse techniques that he had mastered.Kenyu Mitsuhashi redesigned rinpa paintings by combining them with the 750-year-old Kamakura engraving technique, creating a new story of expression.
Through sculpture and lacquer art, a new perspective on the art of Hokusai has been created. Kenyu Mitsuhashi has re-designed the paintings of Hokusai, and through incorporating the 750-year-old technique of Kamakura-bori, created a new story to tell.
